POU Revision of Legislation

The Covid-19 pandemic brings about re-adjustments and reorientation of work for the POU.

With government reprioritising its spending and the lull in economic activities in the country, there are less tenders to deal with. POU is taking advantage of this situation which relieves some of the daily pressure to finalise the proposed Bill that will transform it from a Division in the Ministry of Finance currently, into an autonomous Authority.

Senior management is meeting very regularly to work on this piece of legislation. The target for completion is end of July after which it will be submitted to the Attorney General’s office for legal drafting.

Turning POU into an authority will give it the autonomy to regulate its own affairs and more power to enforce its policy making and monitoring roles thus ensuring transparency, competition, economy, efficiency, fairness and accountability in public procurement in Seychelles.
